Not receiving keystroke events from macOS due to security settings.

There are two likely causes for the app seeming not to work: If Ke圜astr is already in the list you can remove it with the − button and add it again in order to be certain that the right copy of the application is specified. To add Ke圜astr to the list click the + button and select Ke圜astr from the file system, or drag it in using Finder. On older versions of macOS, or if for some reason the app doesn't appear under the Input Monitoring menu (or if you want to pre-enable it) then you may manually add it to the list of apps in the Accessibility menu. Simply unlock this menu and check the box next to Ke圜astr to enable it. On newer versions of macOS (10.15+) there is an Input Monitoring menu under Security & Privacy within the System Preferences app, and Ke圜astr will appear there automatically the first time you run it. Ke圜astr requires your permission to receive events from macOS in order to broadcast your keystrokes and mouse clicks. It is also possible to develop your own visualizer on top of Ke圜astr - pull requests are welcome! You can choose to display all keystrokes or command keys only, and there is also an option to include mouse clicks. Ke圜astr enables you to share your keystrokes when creating screencasts, presenting, or collaborating with others. This has been reported in-game with a link to this post.Ke圜astr, an open source keystroke visualizer. I’m running the latest macOS Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2). My next step will be to completely reinstall the client, I guess, if nobody else is seeing this. I’m wondering if others have seen strange behavior like this and haven’t posted because they couldn’t figure out what they were experiencing. I think it’s fairly safe to conclude that the fix that was put in for the cmd-click issue is causing this. Ke圜astr does show a cmd press when I turn off the behavior so it’s obviously registering actual cmd presses correctly.įinally, this behavior goes away when I turn off the “Command left click as right click” option in System > Keyboard Options and use two-finger click instead. The app (Ke圜astr) confirms that no actual cmd press is happening (or is permanently stuck) when this behavior occurs. I then installed a keypress app to confirm that this was not the keyboard on my computer acting up.

I use the cmd key completely unconsciously many many times per minute, as other Mac users do in this game, so it’s impossible for me to tell what exact action prompts it to start. If I hit cmd once, it gets “unstuck” and everything is fine for a while. So for example if I tried to type the letter v, I’d get the contents of my paste buffer pasted in instead. There was also some strange behavior when typing into chat.Īs a first step, I’ve turned off all my add-ons, and still observed the issue.Īfter a while, I figured out that my game was acting as if the cmd key was permanently stuck. Every so often (we’re talking a couple of times a minute, so often enough), my keybinds (the mount, for which I use ctrl-f, is the most easily noticed one) stop responding. So after the cmd-click issue was fixed, I’ve been having a really strange issue.
